Ecological Solutions Inc. is a majority member of the Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT) Mitigation Program Management Team that has been awarded a three year contract with GDOT to assess, organize, and execute their statewide wetland and stream mitigation program for all transportation projects.
The current program encompasses 167 mitigation sites consisting of approximately 27,000 acres of sensitive habitat such as wetlands, streams, and other special aquatic sites. Several of these sites contain habitat for Federal and State listed threatened and endangered species.
During the contracts duration, approximately 42 new bank sites are planned for development across the state to provide the necessary compensatory mitigation for delivery of the forecasted Statewide Transportation Improvement Program and Construction Work Program.
The existing sites and their associated documentation are in various stages of development and regulatory compliance. The team is tasked with identifying sites, assisting with purchase documentation, developing banking instruments, designing sites, overseeing construction, performing monitoring, and developing a filing structure and database to track the volume of documentation and regulatory commitments.
